2- ¿Who is the owner of the Exide brand?

During the last part of the XX century and the beginning of the XXI many changes took place in the society structure of batteries companies.

These changes started at the beginning of the 90' when Exide Corporation ( USA ) sold to Yuasa Inc, ( Japan ) it's industrial battery unit with all the production plants and the Exide brand included.

At the end of the 90' Yuasa Inc, ( Japan ) sold the industrial battery unit to EnerSys Inc, ( USA ) whom start running the production plants and maintained the ownership of the Exide brand.

These changes generated some confusion in the marketplace while the Exide brand belonged to EnerSys Inc, ( USA ) , Exide Technologies a company that resulted from the acquisition of GNB Technologies ( USA ) by Exide Corp ( USA ) had the same name in his company legal name .

During the year 2002 EnerSys Inc, ( USA ) bought Hawker , the industrial battery division of InvenSys ( UK ) becoming the largest industrial battery manufacturer in the world with a consolidated incomes of more than 1 billion dollars .

Around the year 2005 , during the legal chapter 11 procedure presented by Exide Technologies under USA law , they asked the justice to get back the ownership of the Exide brand .

After some years of legal procedure the EEUU justice accepted Exide technologies presentation and returned the Exide brand to them .

EnerSys Inc, ( USA ) is still the owner of the production plants were the Motive Power Exide Battery are produced and the patented Ironclad technology for tubular plates .

So, the case is that , EnerSys Inc, companies that produce nowadays the Motive Power batteries just lost the use of the Exide brand , but still have the main technology to produce the same tubular quality battery for fork lift trucks with high performance and long life expectancy that gave this product the best concept from the marketplace .

3-Which data do I need to choose a specific battery type?

In order to choose the right type of battery you must first of all define the application.

A standby application is such where the battery is float charged by a parallel connection in a site with a reliable power supply, therefore, the battery will discharge on a very low frequency basis.

Example: batteries being installed in telephone central office or in a UPS.
A cycling application is such where the battery cycles on a discharge-charge basis. Example: Batteries being installed in a fork-lift truck or in non-conventional energy applications (solar or wind).

These examples are very typical, you may find applications where discharge profile is in the middle of these two mentioned before, this requires an good data package.
